Organization Overview
The Calgary Stampede is a not-for-profit community organization that preserves and promotes our western heritage, cultures and community spirit. With a vision to create a world-class, year-round gathering place for the community, the Calgary Stampede is governed by a volunteer board of directors comprised of 20 directors elected by shareholders, nine appointees, and the immediate past president. Day-to-day operations are carried out by more than 1,200 year-round employees, overseen by an executive management team.
Volunteer Committees
The Stampede is one of the most respected volunteer organizations in the world, where over 2,500 community volunteers contribute leadership, time, and energy to organize events and activities. Stampede shareholders are also volunteers. Their shares do not grant dividends or appreciate, nor can they be sold. Every March, shareholders elect the board of directors at the annual general meeting.
Strategic Plan 2020 - 2025
The 2020-2025 Strategic Plan will see the fruition of the Stampede’s current 20-year Master Plan through approaches that will continue to reflect the Stampede’s commitment to our community and our partners while working together to create a world-class, year-round gathering place for the community.
